Imagine a unique station of hope in the center of Oakland County; a place where church and commerce unite to address the genuine needs of humanity; a place where individuals and families can find a helping hand and a caring heart.

You know that Michigan is facing some tough economic times. What you might not realize is that some of the families hardest-hit by poverty live right in your neighborhood. They work in your town, worship at your church, and attend your school. 40 percent of Michigan’s hungry live in rural and suburban areas. 21 percent of children in Oakland County come from families that are surviving off of government food assistance (Oakland County Press 2013). Fortunately, there is something you can do to help.

Oakland Hope is a non-profit, volunteer-driven human service organization that has recently formed within our county. Following in the footsteps of Focus Hope and Hope Center in Macomb, Oakland Hope will partner with other agencies to become Oakland County’s first one-stop-shop human service agency, providing a wide range of services and resources for the under-employed and working poor of Oakland County from a single location.

Oakland Hope is here! It’s revolutionary! And it’s your chance to put your compassion into ACTION…

Get in the game- you can make a difference in your community. Volunteer to serve in our food pantry, in our thrift store, at the reception desk, as a greeter, or in our call center. We know that God has used human needs throughout history to accomplish HIS ends. Now it’s your turn to let him use you!

There is no reason why anyone should ever go to bed hungry or without hope in Oakland County. With the support of compassionate individuals like you, we will be God’s hands and heart to the hungry, the underemployed, and those in need in Oakland County. Let’s rise up and extend a hand-up, not just a hand-out, to the residents of Oakland County.
