Administrative Assistant – Working knowledge of MS Suite necessary. Enhances executive’s effectiveness by providing information management support; representing the executive to others. Ability to be flexible and work well with others and display grace to volunteers and at times under pressure.
Bookkeeping – Working Knowledge of QuickBooks is helpful. If you love number crunching, keeping records and accounting, this is a position for you.
Call Center – Our goal at Oakland Hope is to connect clients with a service provider to help meet their needs. All appointments for the Food Pantry are booked on-line and Call Center volunteers make reminder calls PRIOR to scheduled appointments
Design / Marketing – Responsible for creating a new-and-fresh visible images and designs that can be used in media, print, including social media to keep our branding and mission consistent.
Development Supervisor – Excellent organization and communication skills a must. This is an exciting opportunity for YOU to help this new organization grow. You will work closely with the Director, potential donors and the community to build/enhance relationships and create sustainable funding for Oakland HOPE. Because this is a new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build the development function through their efforts.

Prayer Team – I call on you, O God for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer – Psalm 17:6 The mission of the Prayer Team is pray fervently for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to saturate Oakland Hope, our mission, our vision and our actions. That God’s name will be glorified and above all as His people we will grow deeper in love with Jesus.
Research / Grant Writing / TEAM – Thankfully technology allows us to work collaboratively as a TEAM and more effectively. If you love RESEARCH and details this is your opportunity to utilize your gifts. If you love the “magic-of-words” use your abilities to bring our grants to life. The Grant Writer is responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources. Strong writing and communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals;
Speakers Corner – We also have a need for volunteers to be trained as experts and advocates once trained, these volunteers would meet and speak with other community groups to help increase awareness of the program.
Thrift Store Supervisor – Merchandising and/or Retail Management a plus. Works directly with the Executive Director and other Department Managers to create and cultivate a fabulous shopping experience.
The role of the Thrift Store Supervisor is to manage the day to day business operations of the Thrift Store while providing excellent volunteer leadership and customer service training, facilitate a safe and healthy working and fabulous shopping experience and generating positive net income for the store through in-store promotions, special events and merchandise acquisitions.
If you possess the Gift-of-Thrift we welcome your talents in the Thrift Store. If you understand the fun-of the hunt you will understand why we will strive for this atmosphere to be welcoming and organized. Giving a high-end boutique vibe and taking our cue from Department stores changing the “look” seasonally.
Handyman/Tradesman-team – If you are a handyman we imagine we will have an ever-changing “honey-do” list of needed repairs. Other “honey-do” list might be a good opportunity to teach/mentor someone interested in learning a new skill where we can schedule on a weekly basis. Perhaps you are a skilled tradesman? Because some repairs cannot wait and must be completed by licensed tradesman, permits pulled and inspections completed. Please let us know if that is YOU.
Chaplain – Our desire is to have area Chaplains on-site whenever our doors are open. Chaplains will nurture the spiritual well-being of the clients and volunteers at Oakland Hope. Working together, building relationships, visiting with clients and praying with them. Chaplains will counsel individuals who seek guidance, understanding their needs and challenges like no one else can
Fundraising / Hospitality – Work with the Executive Director, Development Director Board and Fundraising Committee to develop and implement short and long-term fundraising strategies, meet goals and engaging sponsors/donors in ongoing service activities.
Church – Group Coordinator – Designate a “HOPE Ambassador” to be the ACTIVE liaison between your congregation and Oakland Hope.
Thrift Store Volunteer – Greet and Thank customers. Sort and tag and organize donations. Light cleaning (dusting, sweeping, breaking down boxes, throwing trash away, etc.). Work with thrift store staff to keep the store professional and comfortable. Volunteer Shifts are usually 4 hours, fun and flexible.
Facilities and Operations – Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Warehouse and interaction or leading of volunteers. Ensure the warehouse is kept in a clean sanitary and safe working environment and could involve some clerical functions so computer experience would be very helpful. Will work closely with Kitchen and Pantry Supervisors.

Tech/IT Team – OH Geek-Squad (Interns welcome) – IT Professionals willing to work as a volunteer team using your skills to keep our operation humming. This TEAM is your chance to learn new and valuable skills and gain experience. Setting up Office 365, Cloud Computing, POS systems, Database Management Systems, Document Management and Networking are just some of the exciting opportunities for this TEAM
